The Crossing at Jamaica Station

Organization Name: BRP Companies

Project Title: The Crossing at Jamaica Station

Project Location: Jamaica, Queens

Project Description:
This 773,000 SF mixed-used project is conveniently located directly across from Jamaica Terminal, a major transit hub servicing more than 250,000 daily commuters through local commuter rail, subway and bus lines, as well as the AirTrain terminal link to JFK International Airport. The development comprises 669 rental units, 45,000 SF of community and retail space, and 200 parking spaces. LEED Silver certification is anticipated with numerous “green” elements such as water saving plumbing systems, energy-efficient boiler and green roofs.

Community Impact:
The land was purchased from the Greater Jamaica Development Corporation, a group that had the foresight to land bank over the past 40 years so as to be in a position to help shape the built environment as Jamaica begins to develop and grow. The Crossing is the first major private investment (over $420M) in the neighborhood since the entire downtown district was re-zoned in 2007. Ground floor is programmed with over 40,000 SF of diverse retail and community facility uses. The project has catalyzed the neighborhood, with over 1,100 residential units completed after construction began at Jamaica Crossing, and over 3,000 residential units are planned. In addition, approximately 850 keys of hotel development have come online since the inception of Jamaica Crossing.
