Today, NYHC testified in support of Reso. 563, which calls upon the State Legislature to pass, and the Governor to sign, S.2985 – the “Housing Affordability, Resiliency, and Energy Efficiency Investment Act of 2023 (HAREEIA). HAREEIA would modernize the NYC Department of Housing Preservation and Development’s (HPD) loan authority which is necessary for the City to achieve housing goals. The current loan authority, which has not been updated for 50 years places significant limitations on HPD’s ability to support a wide range of housing needs. The Legislature must move on this critical bill before session ends.
