United for Housing hosted a webinar on May 11, 2021 on Housing and Homelessness Policy in NYC’s Elections where we shared information about the city’s housing crisis and the United for Housing coalition’s recommendations for the next administration to address the crisis.

We invited candidates and staff of City Council, Borough President and Comptroller races and anyone from the public. Members of the United for Housing coalition briefed attendees on:

  • The recommendations outlined in our United for Housing: From the Ground Up report.
  • Provide a snapshot of the current landscape regarding affordable housing, conditions at the New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA), homelessness, the city’s recovery from COVID-19, and the connecting issue of racial segregation.
  • How each elected office can shape and influence housing policy in New York.
