NYHC recently hosted our Annual Congressional Delegation Affordable Housing Meeting to discuss our policy agenda supporting renters and homeowners amid our recovery from the coronavirus pandemic.

We are proud to bring together members of the NY Congressional Delegation – including U.S. Senators Charles Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand and the following representatives: Rep. Hakeen Jeffries (NY-8th), Rep. Yvette Clarke (NY-9th); Rep. Ritchie Torres (NY-15th); Rep. Mondaire Jones (NY-17th) – as well as leaders of New York’s housing agencies (HPD Commissioner Louise Carroll, HCR Commissioner RuthAnne Visnauskas, HDC President Eric Enderlin, and NYCHA Chair & CEO Gregory Russ), and our Executive and Advisory Boards.

As we look towards the future and the renewal of our state, we understand that a remarkable response is imperative as we address the housing crisis intensified by the pandemic. During the virtual event, we spoke about our top priorities including 1) universal rental assistance, 2) preserving public housing and 3) expanding supply of affordable housing.

We are grateful to Senate Majority Leader Schumer for taking the time to address the coalition on the developing status of infrastructure discussion and his advocacy for affordable housing.

NYHC thanks the NY Congressional Delegation for their continued partnership and steadfast advocacy for affordable and public housing. We are dedicated to continuing our advocacy efforts to advance housing priorities in Washington.
