The New York Housing Conference and the Rising Leaders Network recently hosted a discussion on Understanding the Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) reform. We were delighted to have a double feature with Thought Leaders Mark Willis, Senior Policy Fellow at the NYU Furman, and Jaime Weisberg, Senior Campaign Analyst at ANHD, and moderated by Matthew Singh, Vice President of Commercial Real Estate at TD Bank.

The CRA is a major reason banks make loans and invest in low-income communities, including supporting community-based organizations and affordable housing. The Federal Reserve proposed rule changes that will impact community investment for decades to come. The process of reforming CRA is underway with an opportunity to comment by February 16th. The January Thought Leaders discussed critical issues in current reform proposals and highlighted areas impacting affordable housing.

The event, on January 29th was the first of the RLN 2021 Winter Thought Leaders events, where each winter we host a thought leader on critical housing issues. You can watch a recording of the event here and see Jaime’s slides here.
