Rachel Fee supported the recent proposal to rezone SoHo in an op-ed published in Crain’s New York Business.

Fee says that the SoHo rezoning, “should be the first of many such plans in the future, as it will reverse restrictive zoning practices that keep far too many New York City neighborhoods unaffordable and overwhelmingly white.”

The city says the rezoning could create 800 new, permanently affordable units between Houston and Canal streets. This will be the first time the neighborhood will see a significant increase of affordable housing since artists started converting lofts in the 1970s.
