The New York Housing Conference along with ANHD, Enterprise Community Partners, Inc, LISC NYC and SHNNY, sent a letter to Gov. Andrew Cuomo calling on him to extend the original comprehensive eviction moratorium established on March 20th, which expires on June 20th. The second moratorium that Gov. Cuomo implemented that expires on August 20 only protects renters that were affected by Covid, leaving some renters that cannot prove a connection to Covid at risk of eviction.

We also expressed support for the Emergency Rent Relief Act of 2020 (S.8419) to provide $100 million in rental assistance and S.8243C to extend forbearance options for impacted homeowners with mortgages from State regulated banks. Gov. Cuomo has signed both bills and we appreciate his support.
