NYHC is a member of the Federal Tax and Budget Response Team (a state-based coalition led by FPWA). On August 21st, advocates in housing and human services rallied at Jacob A. Riis Neighborhood Settlement Queensbridge Community Center with Congresswoman Carolyn Maloney (D-NY12) and Council Member Helen Rosenthal (D-NY6) calling for full Congressional support for the passage of spending bills that reinvest in critical services following a decade of austere spending, sufficiently funds in affordable housing and economic security for working families, and stands up to the Trump administration’s latest attack on food assistance. In addition, over 50 non-profits have signed on to the Federal Tax and Budget Response Team’s joint letter urging Congress to chart a new vision for the new decade in the FY 2020 budget by providing meaningful support for critical programs, such as in the House appropriations bills, and advance critical tax policy to support meaningful improvements in affordable housing and economic security for working families. You can sign your organization on to the letter here.
