The Dayspring Campus

Organization Name: Westhab, Inc

Project Title: The Dayspring Campus

Project Location: Yonkers, NY

Project Description:
The Dayspring Campus consists of a brand new, 63-unit affordable and supportive housing residence next door to a state-of-the-art community center in the Nodine Hill neighborhood of Southwest Yonkers. The six-story affordable and supportive residential building, Dayspring Commons, totals approximately 69,000 gross building square feet atop a two-story parking garage with 55 parking spaces. The project has 63 rental units for families with 37 units that are supportive in nature for formerly homeless tenants. Twenty-five of those house young adults with children, and 12 units are for families with a mentally disabled head of household. Building amenities include a social services office, community room, laundry room, 24/7 security personnel, a landscaped yard, and free, covered parking. Next door is the gut-renovated Dayspring Community Center, an approximately 20,000 square foot facility offering a wide range of programming to the Nodine Hill community including a full-service out-of-school-time youth program, job training and placement, adult education, a food pantry, a fully-equipped gymnasium, a business center with access to computers and printing, and free Wi-Fi and access to technology training

Community Impact:
The Dayspring Campus represents an over $43 million transformational investment to benefit one of Westchester's most underserved communities. At Dayspring Commons, the community gains 63 affordable housing units, 37 of which are supportive in nature and will uplift formerly homeless families to help them achieve long-term stability in their new homes. At the gut-renovated Dayspring Community Center, situated in the former Good Shepherd Presbyterian Church, the entire Nodine Hill community will have access to daily programs and services, from the Dayspring Youth Program, ESL and parenting classes, and job readiness programs to a food pantry, business center, and gymnasium. The Dayspring Campus is the largest investment in a generation in Nodine Hill, an anchor for the community, and a catalyst for further community development.
