Project Description:
Skybird Landing Apartments is a $17M affordable housing development for seniors located in Geneseo, NY. The development consists of six two-story, wood framed apartment buildings totaling 60 units. The complex offers both one- and two- bedroom apartments for seniors and income eligible tenants with on-site supportive services. Apartment amenities feature a fully equipped kitchen with range, refrigerator and microwave, wall-mounted flat screen TV and in-unit storage. Tenants also have access to a community room, lounges, and a computer lab. The name takes homage to Geneseo’s National Warplane Museum which also plays a large role in the interior design of the buildings. The total project is on 6.5 acres.

Community Impact:
DePaul Skybird Landing Apartments is an affordable senior housing community that has transformed lives in various ways. The complex has reflected a better version of public health by providing stability and the supportive services that residents need to thrive. Onsite services include job training and promoting stability, health and independent living which are funded through the Empire State Supportive Housing Initiative (ESSHI). This is a significant housing development in Geneseo, NY providing affordable, quality residential housing for the local community.
HCR funding includes federal and state Low Income Housing Tax Credits and support from the Supportive Housing Opportunity Program and Rural Area Revitalization Program; OMH and the NYS Energy Research and Development Authority are also funders. This HCR funded project is also a LEED for Homes Silver Certified. The apartments represent another project of the Governor’s Finger Lakes Forward initiative.
