Policy & Advocacy Coordinator

NYHC is seeking a new member of our small but mighty team to support our policy and advocacy work on city, state and federal affordable housing issues and campaigns.  Be the point person for our Rising Leaders Network which is a voluntary board that produces monthly networking, volunteer and educational events.

Responsibilities

  • Support policy and advocacy work through research, analysis and outreach
  • Conduct outreach to partners in coalition work and active partners for advocacy
  • Coordinating coalition campaigns
  • Managing the Rising Leaders Network

Director of Communications

About the Director of Communications

NYHC is seeking a communications leader to join our small but mighty team that can lead communications to help advance our mission including earned media; communications to partners/funders; brand management and social media.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee earned media strategies and press relations to amplify our advocacy including maintaining relationships with reporters, editors, and producers to secure coverage of housing issues. This includes reaching out to reporters to share our latest reports or our availability to comment on developing stories.
  • Prepare press releases, statements, talking points and Op-Eds from NYHC and our partners.
  • Coordinate messaging for advocacy campaigns and work collaboratively with coalition partners.
  • Develop and execute digital strategy and brand messaging to advance NYHC’s mission. Build NYHC’s social media presence.
  • Keep partners and funders informed through fresh and informative content on social media, regular newsletters and website.
  • Grant writing as needed.

We are looking for someone with prior experience in a press or communications role in advocacy or government with experience or interest in policy.
