Station 25 is a transformative affordable housing community that seamlessly blends modern architecture with the rich history of Albany. The project includes a newly constructed five-story building and the rehabilitation of a historic structure, once home to the Albany Fire Signal Equipment Building from 1917 to 1967.
Station 25 features 51 affordable apartment homes, thoughtfully designed to serve families earning between 30% and 60% of the Area Median Income (AMI). The unit mix includes 40 one-bedroom and 11 two-bedroom homes, offering spacious layouts and high-quality finishes.
Station 25’s US Green LEED-certified design enhances the quality of life for residents by incorporating sustainable practices and energy-efficient features.
Total cost for the development was approximately $22.6 million with financial assistance in the form of a SONYMA-insured permanent loan provided by The Community Preservation Corporation, financing from KeyBank, federal low-income housing tax credits, and support from New York State and the City of Albany.
Built by Conifer LeChase Construction, this award-worthy development preserves a vital piece of Albany’s architectural history.

Conveniently located within walking distance of stores, restaurants, banks, and local schools, Station 25 provides easy access to neighborhood services and public transportation, with a bus stop directly in front of the community. Residents enjoy access to a variety of community amenities, including a great room for gatherings, a fitness center, bicycle storage, and a playground. Most of these amenities are housed within the restored historic building, adding a unique charm to the community. The five-story elevator building, fronting Delaware Avenue, includes 30 parking spaces on the semi-subsurface level and provides controlled access for residents’ security.
The building’s design is in line with the Park South Urban Renewal Plan, transforming an underutilized and blighted property while preserving the historic fire signal building for resident use.
The development’s rapid lease-up, reaching full occupancy just two months after its completion, underscores the significant demand for affordable housing in Albany.
