New York City Water Board is holding public hearings and accepting written comments on their proposed water rate schedule. The Water Board is proposing a water rate increase of 3.7 percent. This proposed increase is half of what we expected, and the board has increased funding for the Multi-Family Water Assistance Program.

It is important for the affordable housing community to weigh in on the rate increase and the impact that past increases have had on affordable housing finance. NYHC is testifying on this lower rate increase and the need for low rate increases in the future.

You can see our testimony here – we followed the main points raised by UNHP, who has been tracking this issue closely. Feel free to use it as a template. You can find more information about the water rate proposal here.
