Organization Name: RUPCO, Inc
Project Title: Silver Gardens
Project Location: 58 Andi Court, Highland, NY 12528
Project Description:
Nestled beside the forested trails of Franny Reese State Park, Silver Gardens is a new supportive community for seniors. Located in the Hamlet of Highland, this $22.1 million development has created 57 thoughtfully designed one-bedroom apartments for people 62 and older. The three-story building was designed to meet the 2020 Enterprise Green Communities Plus certification, with features such as ENERGY STARĀ® Multifamily New Construction, EPA Indoor airPLUS, and DOE Zero Energy Ready standards. Residents benefit from lower utility costs, cleaner indoor air, and healthier, more sustainable living spaces. Silver Gardens' location is as intentional as the design. From health services and shopping to public transportation and scenic Hudson Valley trails, Silver Gardens places residents close to the essentials and the beauty of daily life.
Community Impact:
Over half of the residences (29 apartments) at Silver Gardens include rental subsidies and on-site case management through an Empire State Supportive Housing Initiative (ESSHI) grant funded by the NYS Department of Health. These homes are reserved for older adults who were once without stable housing or faced the risk of homelessness. Through this program, residents have access to wraparound services designed to foster stability, independence, and connection, including:
- Individualized Support Plans tailored to housing, health, and benefits needs.
- Self-advocacy guidance to empower residents to make informed choices.
- Community integration and resource development to build natural support networks.
- Health and wellness supports, including nutrition education and physical care coordination.
- Medication management and training for safe and effective self-administration.
- Social activities to reduce isolation and encourage connection.
- Education, vocational, and job readiness opportunities for those able to work before retirement.
- Private transportation to ensure access to medical care and essential services.
