Join United for Housing’s webinar on Tuesday, May 11, 2021 at 11 a.m. on Housing and Homelessness Policy in NYC’s Elections to learn about the challenges and recommendations for the next mayor, city council, comptroller, and borough presidents to address the housing crisis.

United for Housing is a coalition comprised of more than 90 organizations that came together and produced consensus recommendations for housing policy and investment for New York City’s next administration. We have expertise and leaders in housing, community development, homelessness, criminal justice, healthcare, real estate, finance and other relevant fields. The coalition’s comprehensive set of recommendations are designed to shape housing policy for the next decade and address the city’s growing affordability crisis.

United for Housing has met with most of the leading mayoral candidates and co-hosted a mayoral forum in March, where the 8 leading Democratic candidates attended. This webinar is targeted to candidates and staff of City Council, Borough Presidents and Comptroller’s races and anyone from the public. At our webinar, members of the United for Housing coalition will brief attendees on:

  • The recommendations outlined in our United for Housing: From the Ground Up
  • Provide a snapshot of the current landscape regarding affordable housing, conditions at the New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA), homelessness, the city’s recovery from COVID-19, and the connecting issue of racial segregation.
  • How each office can shape and influence housing policy in New York.

The presentation will last about 45 minutes, with the last 15 minutes of the webinar reserved for audience and candidate questions. If you have specific questions you’d like us to address, submit them ahead of the webinar by using the #U4Housing hashtag or by emailing Brendan.cheney@thenyhc.org.
