On Monday, February 13th from 8:30am – 10am, the New York Housing Conference and the Rising Leaders Network will host the second of the 2023 Winter Thought Leader series, featuring New York City Council Speaker Adrienne Adams.

Speaker Adams will discuss her housing platform, including her recently released Planning & Land Use Toolkit and Housing Agenda. During her tenure as Speaker, the City Council has approved several important and contentious rezonings for housing and affordable housing.

Speaker Adams was elected by the City Council to be Speaker January 2022 and she is the first African-American speaker of the City Council. Originally elected to the Council in 2017, she represents the Queens neighborhoods of Jamaica, Richmond Hill, Rochdale Village, and South Ozone Park. Prior to election to the City Council, Adams was corporate trainer, child development associate and was Chair of Community Board 12 in Queens.

The Winter Thought Leader series are free educational discussions on affordable housing hosted by the Rising Leaders Network. Each winter month we feature a special speaker on topics impacting affordable housing followed by a Q&A moderated by a member of NYHC’s RLN.
