Last week, the President signed a temporary Continuing Resolution (CR) that will continue to fund the government until December 21st. However, the President and Democratic leaders had a meeting at the White House yesterday and their continued heated dispute over wall funding may prevent Congress from being able to meet this deadline to approve the remaining 7 Fiscal Year 2019 spending bills. If Congress is unable to pass the spending bills by then and another CR is not passed, HUD-funded programs may be impacted- especially public housing authorities and buildings with project-based assistance without sufficient reserves. We ask Congress to not hold the HUD spending bill hostage and pass it now to protect the vulnerable populations HUD supports.
