NYHC has developed the #TrumpRentHike calculator for HUD-assisted tenants and public housing residents to find out how much President Trump intends to raise their rent.
In his budget request to Congress, President Trump proposes to increase rent for HUD-assisted households from 30% of adjusted income to 35% of gross income with the elimination of deductions, including those for child care and medical expenses. Rents nationally will go up by 32% or $1280 annually on average. This is an increase low-income families cannot afford.
